BUSAN INTERNATIONAL MARKET

Gukje Market has witnessed two major historical events. The liberation of Korea and the subsequent Korean War. Right after the liberation, Japanese goods entered in bulk and Korean refugees who had fled to Busan started businesses at this market, which was once the nation’s largest center for business and logistics. Today they sell all kinds of merchandise, including food and industrial goods.

How to Get There: Take Subway Line 1 and get off at Nampo-dong station; then go out of exit 1. Take the street behind the PIFF Plaza. The market is open from 09:00 until 19:30 hrs. and is closed every first and third Sunday.

Foreign Currency Exchange: Since vendors at Jagalchi Market and other local markets deal only in cash, be sure to exchange your money into Korean won. Foreign currency can be exchanged at most commercial banks. http://www.x-rates.com/d/KRW/USD/graph120.html
